QUETTA: In a statement released on July 13, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a pre-emptive strike in the Bencha area of Kalat and a series of bomb attacks targeting the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rakhshan Zone in Kharan.
The BLA said these actions were part of a broader strategic campaign aimed at destabilising military operations in Balochistan and weakening the influence of local collaborators.
The BLA’s operation began on the night of July 12 at around 9:00 PM, when its fighters executed a well-coordinated strike in the Bencha region, situated along the Quetta–Karachi RCD Highway. The group described the strike as part of a “broader strategic sequence designed under the contemporary needs of the Baloch armed resistance,” with careful selection of operational zones to maximise impact.
BLA operatives set up combat-forward positions and activated several control and screening points along the highway, blocking key access routes. Despite several attempts by military forces and their local collaborators to infiltrate the area, the BLA claimed to have maintained operational superiority for four continuous hours.
At the outset of the operation, BLA fighters ambushed a military convoy travelling from Khuzdar, engaging in a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.
According to the BLA, the forces were forced to retreat after the ambush, resulting in the deaths of three military personnel and several others wounded.
The BLA emphasised that their fighters adhered to their standard operating procedures during the operation, including the “Hit-and-Run Tactic” and the “Safe Engagement Doctrine” (SED), which are intended to minimise civilian casualties while ensuring the safety of their own fighters.
The following day, on July 13, the BLA claimed responsibility for three bomb attacks targeting the office of the Deputy Inspector General of the Rakhshan Zone in Kharan.
According to the BLA, the DIG is not a mere law enforcement officer, but rather a military facilitator responsible for coercing local Baloch police officers to act against the Baloch national movement.
The attacks, which were reportedly timed to coincide with key security shifts, caused significant damage. The BLA’s spokesperson, Azad Baloch, reiterated that such operations would continue until the realisation of a free and independent Balochistan.
