QUETTA: Ghulam Jan, a resident of Karkian Khad in Tehsil Kolwah, was reportedly extra judicially killed within hours of being forcibly disappeared on July 13.

According to local sources, Ghulam Jan son of Bejjar Baloch and originally from the Pahu area, was abducted in broad daylight by state-backed death squads said to be operating with the support and protection of the Pakistani armed forces.

Witnesses and human rights activists said that Ghulam Jan had long been targeted by military authorities, with his family previously forced to flee their home in the mountainous Pahu region due to ongoing harassment and intimidation.

His bullet-ridden body, bearing visible signs of torture, was later discovered dumped in the Kuli area of Kolwah, just hours after his abduction. The circumstances of his death point to a deeply disturbing pattern of enforced disappearances followed by extrajudicial executions, a common occurrence in Balochistan.

Local residents and human rights defenders have expressed outrage over the killing, describing it as part of a systematic campaign of violence against the Baloch population. They have called for an independent investigation and international attention to ongoing human rights violations in the region.
